Foundation for Education and Protection of Children with Intellectual Disabilities (ZİÇEV) – (TR)
ZICEV was founded in 1982 by a group of volunteers under the leadership of Makbule Ölçen. Today, in our Gölbaşı campus consisting of 9 buildings which are located on the land purchased from the State of Turkey. ZİÇEV has also 14 branches in several cities in Turkey with more than 200 staff.
General Headquarters and branches intend to provide a good education and a secure future for children and individuals with intellectual disabilities, and to protect them when their parents pass a way. While carrying out its activities, ZİÇEV works closely with the Ministry of National Education and Ministry of family and social policies, civil society organizations, central and local governments. Since its foundation till today, ZICEV provided education and rehabilitation services to ten thousands of children and individuals with intellectual disabilities without age limitation and support for their families.
As a complementary part of its services, ZİÇEV has carried out so many projects funded by national and international organizations. Its financial resources come from donations and projects. As a summary, underlining principle of ZİÇEV is to develop permanent solutions for the problems and needs of its target group and to take part within the policy discussions in Turkey about individuals with intellectual disabilities.
'Teacher Training Institute' was established in 1926. In 1929 the institute was given the name 'Gazi Teacher Training Institute' and continued to educate students under this name for many years. In the Academic year 1949-1950 the institution was given the name 'Gazi Institute of Education'. In 1982, with the act number 2809 the institution gets the name Gazi University together with Ankara Academy of Economy and Commerce, Ankara College of Technical Teachers, Ankara Girls' College of Technical Teachers and Ankara Government Academy of Engineering and Architecture. Actually this university is the continuation of the tradition starting with Republic with a new name. Apart from Gazi Faculty of Education, the academies mentioned above play an important role in the establishment of the university. Ankara Academy of Economics and Commerce was already like a university when it was joined to Gazi University. In those days, the Departments of Medicine Dentistry, Pharmacology and Communication were all a part of this academy. Ankara Academy of State Engineering and Architecture is also included in Gazi University. When it was first built it had 9 faculties, 12 colleges and 4 institutes but the number of these units increased.
Today, Gazi University carries out its educational and research activities with its 21 faculties, 4 colleges, 11 Vocational High Schools, 1 conservatory, 48 research centers and 7 institutes and it still claims it is a higher education institution which is worthy to Atatürk. Education is provided in the fields of Education, Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Engineering and Architecture, Economics and Administrative Sciences, Communications, Science and Letters, Law and Fine Arts within the university. Being the national leader in terms of education faculties, Gazi University consists of Faculty of Industrial Arts, Gazi Education Faculty, Faculty of Vocational Education, Faculty of Technical Education, Faculty of Commerce and Faculty of Tourism Education. In addition to the students coming from all around the country, Gazi is the university that accepts the most students from abroad with over 1500 students from other nations including the Turkic states and their communities.
It not only meets the needs of its own academic staff but also trains academic staff for other universities with more than 5 thousand students studying in masters and PhD programmes. Gazi University carries out its education at different campuses. Having three campuses-Besevler, Emek and Maltepe in Ankara- Gazi shows the degree of importance it gives to education. With more than 50,000 students and over 3.000 academic staff, Gazi University demonstrates the standards of the world average in terms of the number of students per instructor. Gazi is one of the largest universities with its faculties from education to communication, fine arts to engineering, sports to forestry, medicine to pharmacy, dentistry to science and economics.
Gazi University Project Coordination Implementation and Research Center provides coordination and consultancy to the academic and administrative units of the university for benefiting from granted funds at most level and provide support on financial and administrative issues for implementation of the projects with the full time employees.

Alkım Health, Rehabilitation and Education Services Limited (İLKALKIM) (TR)
It was founded in 2007 in Ankara-Turkey. It is working for children and youngsters with intellectual disabilities and their families through providing special education and rehabilitation programs, hydrotheraphy programes, support for sensory integration disorders in kids and social facilities to the mentally handicapped children and support programs for their families.
İLKALKIM is one of the private special education and rehabilitation center which operates under the control of Ministry of National Education to meet education and threapy needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities. It is an experienced organization in the field of special education for children and youngsters with intellectual disabilities through its services in education, rehabilitation and also social and cultural activities as well. The center conducts small projects for the above mentioned target group in order to support them for integration to social life. The center works with special education teachers, branch teachers, social services expert and psychologist in addition to managerial and administrative staff.
Gölbaşı Special Education and Practices School -(TR)
Gölbaşı Special Education and Practice Center is a state school which operates under the control of Ministry of National Education in the Gölbaşı province of Ankara and provides education for children and young people with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, down syndrome, that cerebral palsel and autism. . The school has a total of 62 students and 26 teachers in the 7-22 age range. The main aim of the School is to develop basic daily living skills, vocational and social skills of their students. Supporting students for social and cultural aspects of life is among the priorities of the Schools. Special education teachers, visual arts teachers, music teacher, physical education teachers, technology design teachers are on duty. The school has three administrative staff and a nurse.
In addition to its formal education, the school aims to provide additional activities for its students so as to eliminate their stress created by their own disabilities and to support their participation to social, cultural and economic life through designing and implementing projects.. " Floating Colors on the Wall " and " let's say Together " projects were designed and implemented in between 2013-2014. The another and important project , namely ‘’Would you like to realize my dreams’’ has been implementing since 2014 July with the financial support of Ankara Development Agency in 2014.
CJD Frenchen Berufsbildungswerk (CJD)-(DE)
CJD BBW Frechen (CJD) is a large, nationwide organization for youth, education and social work. Every year CJD offers orientation and future prospects to 155.000 adolescents and young adults. More than 9500 employees in over 150 locations offer support and teach skills providing education.
The main aim of CJD Frechen is the vocational and social rehabilitation of youngsters and young adults in the region around Cologne. Most of the participants are learning handicapped and in risk of social exclusion. Most of the 250 young adults currently doing a vocational training live in the CJD Frechen boarding home during a two or three years vocational training.
The goal is the officially acknowledged final examination. Next to the vocational training, CJD Frechen is having a youth welfare for youth younger than 18 and offers a kind of orientation year, for youth who haven’t started with a vocational training yet. Especially for the people living in the boarding home several leisure activities are offered in the area of sport and creativity.
The vocational school is located on the campus as well. The teaching contents are taught practically in workshops and theoretically in school. There is a strong emphasize on supporting the trainees in an individual way. Additional to adapted framework conditions like e.g. learning in small classes a team of pedagogues, psychologists and social workers supports each participant individually. The trainees are also trained in social competences, especially teamwork and communication.
The rehabilitation program is primarily aimed at young people who have left special schools for educationally handicapped people or from a junior high school who, due to their special needs, are not able to find or complete any training vacancy on the general training market. Reason for this lack often are learning handicaps or/combined with mental health problems. To support them the best way, an experienced team of instructors, teachers, social education workers and psychologists accompanies and supports the rehabilitation process.
Universita del Terzo Settore (UniTS)-(IT)
UniTS is a private, non governmental, not for profit, training and research organisation. It was born in 1996 on an ANPAS (one of the biggest voluntary organisations in Italy) project in partnership with Local Authorities, Public Institutions and Private Companies.
Members of UniTS are voluntary organisations based all over the country, Local Authorities, Public Institutions and Private Companies. UniTS aims at strengthening the role and improving the efficiency of the Not-for-profit Sector in Italy through the development of research and high quality training for Not-for-profit Sector’s operators.
Since its foundation UniTS implemented projects in the framework of both various European programmes such as LLL P, Europe for Citizens, Leonardo da Vinci, Socrates, Grundtvig, Youth (in Action), Daphne, INTI, Community Action in the field of Public Health, Equal, etc. and national programmes as ESF, National Observatory for Voluntary Service, Centres to support the Voluntary Service, etc.
UniTS has an accreditation as EVS Sending and Coordinating organisation EVS Charter (LLP-EVS-CHARTER)): 2013-IT-168
UniTS as training agency for the non-profit sector works actively in the field of improving the active participation and inclusion of disadvantaged people in cooperation with voluntary service organisations and other actors of the non-profit sector in Italy. UniTS organizes regularly training courses for social cooperatives, voluntary service organisations, social enterprises, and local authorities to improve the quality of their work related to social and educational topics.
UniTS also has experience in designing training programs for teachers and other professionals working with individuals with disabilities including intellectual disabilities on several topics. It also has experience in managing and implementing complex international projects.
